Course Descriptions - Science:

The Science Curriculum incorporates the following research- based strategies that can be found through the text of “HOLT Science Level Blue”:

We encourage students to use their prior knowledge to learn information because this adds relevance to the material. Students are referred back to other parts of the text or to their own real-life experience;

By offering students an opportunity to practice important tasks using a variety of labs and activities , Science in Grade 8

makes learning fun and relevant for students.

1. 3.  Using Visuals to Communicate, Organize and Reinforce Learning

High quality art and photos through the text communicate concepts more efficiently and reinforce learning, while allowing students to organize information.

Active strategies and real – world experiences motivate students to achieve. Throughout Glencoe’s programs, students are encouraged to apply their knowledge in ways that will motivate them to learn.
