English Department Resources/Books :

The Triumphs Reading series published by MacMillan/McGraw Hill is set of books published and printed in the United States of America provides a collection of books which cover various language arts and is used throughout the whole elementary stage. The Reading book is where students draw their vocabulary from a long with new phonics sounds. The reading book groups the new words for vocabulary and examples of a particular sound in phonics at the beginning of each lesson. The students then read a passage which includes the words they have just learnt, the lesson ends with students answering comprehension questions on that passage to evaluate their understanding of the text and words. The Triumphs Practice book supplements the reading book in that it includes various activities and exercises related to what students have read in the reading book, these include analyzing the text they’ve previously finished. Besides to that the practice book has other activities and exercises for fluency, writing and grammar.

The Wonderful World Grammar series published by National Geographic Learning is also used throughout the elementary stage. Especially designed for the primary/elementary students’ level, the books gradually develop students reading, listening, speaking and writing skills through various interesting exercises for children. The book covers the suitable grammar lessons and includes fun stories, short non-fiction reading texts, captivating images, attractive illustrations, posters, emails and letters.

Math Department:

The materials used in teaching elementary Mathematics are provided by Shaping Maths ( Primary Mathematics Series). The shaping maths 2nd Edition (for grades 2-5) series of elementary math coursebooks and activitybooks and The shaping maths 3rd Edition (for grade 1) series of elementary math coursebooks and activitybooks uses the Concrete> Pictorial >Abstract approach. The students are provided with the necessary learning experiences beginning with the concrete and pictorial stages, followed by the abstract stage to enable them to learn mathematics meaningfully. This approach encourages active thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving. This helps develop the foundation students will need for more advanced mathematics.

Our school selected to be used for Social Studies classes a series called “For a Better World”, levels 1 to 6, designed by accomplished teachers with over 20 years of teaching experience in Jordan's best reputed schools, and is edited by American editors with over 17 years of experience in the field. The series is primarily designed to provide students of the targeted age range, with a positive glimpse into the History, Geography, and Sociology of the Arab World in a modern and easily comprehended manner.

The program emphasizes the importance of diversity and respect for differences as well as the need for social cohesion and the effective functioning of society. It promotes a sense of belonging and acceptance in students as they engage in active and responsible citizenship at the local, community, provincial, national and global level.
